Costières de Nimes

circuit 7:

 Costière de Nîmes
Between Provence and Languedoc, it is quite difficult to say which of these two wine areas influence more this superb appellation, located at the south of Nîmes, and bordering the Camargue.

This long gravel rounding hills takes advantage from the hot summer and the drying Mistral, but the violence of the heat is attenuated by maritime softness and especially by the deep grounds, providing humidity.

A paradise for vine growers.

Territory of history and tradition, the Costières (local word for côte or coteau) is crossed by the southernmost road to Compostelle. From this period, the Costières inherited one of the most beautiful Romanesque monument: the abbey of Saint Gilles.

Vineyards are inserted between orchards and herds (local breed for Camargue bullfight), where the bulls of the Camargue live, the wild noises of the marshes always resound in this vineyard of the Costières de Nîmes
