circuit 4: Coteaux d’Aix.


Between the river Durance at north and the city of Aix en Provence, extends to the west a succession of green hills covered with pines groves and vines: Coteaux d’Aix vineyards.

 Still sun, still Mistral to support maturities in this clayous-limestone soil.

The red wines of the Coteaux d’Aix have the characteristic to associate with the traditional grape variety which are Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, the Cabernet-Sauvignon from Bordeaux. 

This distinction notably differentiates the wines from this Appellation from the other southernmost wines.



But this country of rosé is enlighted by the city Aix en Provence which the rich architecture and active life is fascinating. Its streets always bear the memory of Cézanne as well as the last Count of Provence, king René, who , according to the legend, imported the Muscatel variety in Provence.
